Taking a moment to experience the changing world
Sketchbook pages with observations and a seasonal challenge
Today’s post is in a different format than usual, but I needed physical pen and paper in order for my thoughts to flow. My husband tells me that it will be bad for SEO, something that I should probably care about, but rarely do and even more so on a day where a physical sketchbook is on my list of necessities. And with the current dutch autumn weather that we are experiencing, “cosy” is something needed and a sketchbook and pen counts as cosy in my mind.
Making these collections has really helped me to observe the changing world around me. It forces me to slow down and experience the moment. To hear the birds singing in the trees, and the wind brushing the leaves of the poplar trees, making it sound like a whole crowd is softly applauding. Autumn, after all, is supposed to remind us to slow down.
So if you want to do one thing (in your sketchbook) this month - collect the treasures that comes with the season, be it the colours or physical little trinkets. Try to put into words the things that can not be physically grasped, and let it help you to slow down and savour the moments that make up this change.
Although most of my current readers are stepping into autumn, I realise that there are also a few in the southern hemisphere, experiencing the joy of spring or maybe you live closer to the equator where seasonal changes are so slight. The same principle applies. Take a moment to slow down and collect what you see and hear and smell and in doing that, experience the world around you deeper than you usually do.
Hey, I like this post too. I think I shall subscribe. I found you through a random note that showed up in my stream, you know, because I commented on that first.
lol
Looking and feeling more than the obvious is a gift 🥰 love the observations about your findings especially about the colours! I can't wait to feel Autumn here, still too hot for the season 😌
