Need to find courage (sounds silly) to try underpainting backgrounds! I've been seeing it on Instagram a lot and looks interesting and fun too but somehow scares me, always think that probably I will not know what to draw on it after, or that will paint a few pages and not use them at all 🙄 it's not easy to stop these doubts!

Well, the underpainting where I filled the whole page, was done on top of another drawing that was a total flop, so I didn’t have anything to lose. And another way to look at it would be that the under paintings also doubles as some great abstract art until you add something on top, so you don’t have to worry about it if you end up liking it too much to draw something on top of it. I would say, just go for it. Play! There isn’t a better and more fun way to learn and get better at your art than playing with no expectations.

Looking forward to hearing how it worked for you.

Great suggestions Nino! I often splash around some colour underneath as it takes away the blank white page and I don’t feel as intimidated in starting. I sometimes use watered down high flow acrylic in an old spray bottle and it gives a light coverage and creates some very cool effects. 😍

Ooh! I know it says on the bottle of my acrylic ink that it can be used for spray paint, but I have never actually thought of putting it in a spray bottle. It could create some interesting textures. You have really great texture creating ideas, Loretta!

Aww thanks...my hairdresser saves me her empty spray bottles which I use for water as well..the spray is soft and not a big blast like some spray bottles. 😍
